Huxley Gorge Horse Trekking Limited – Terms & Conditions

1. Safety and Risk

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of our riders, guides, and horses. However, horses are live animals and riding carries inherent risks. By participating in a trek with Huxley Gorge Horse Trekking Limited (“HGHTL”), all riders acknowledge that they ride entirely at their own risk.

2. Weather and Track Conditions

The Mackenzie Country weather can change quickly. For your safety, rides may be altered or cancelled due to conditions such as high winds, slippery terrain, or flooded crossings. HGHTL reserves the right to:

Cancel or postpone a ride (with a full refund provided),

Reschedule to another suitable time, or

Choose an alternative route at any point if conditions become unsafe.

We will always contact you as soon as possible if weather or track conditions affect your trek.

3. Clothing and Equipment

Riders must wear long pants and closed-in footwear (such as sports shoes or boots).

Scarves are not permitted for safety reasons.

If your footwear is unsuitable, we may be able to provide alternatives depending on availability and size.

A protective helmet must be worn at all times while riding; helmets are supplied by HGHTL.

4. Personal Items

For safety reasons, backpacks and handbags are not permitted while riding. Small saddlebags are provided for limited items (e.g. small camera, water bottle, or phone). If you prefer to carry your phone on you, it must be secured in a zipped pocket.

HGHTL accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings. Any lost property that is found can be returned at the client’s expense.

5. Guides and Instructions

Our guides are here to make your experience safe and enjoyable. Please listen carefully and follow all instructions given by them during your trek. Failure to follow guide instructions may result in termination of the ride without refund if safety is compromised.

6. Acknowledgement and Waiver

Upon arrival, you will be asked to read and sign our Participant Waiver and Acknowledgement of Risk. By signing, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions and accept the inherent risks associated with horse riding.
